Help & FAQs for owners
What is '3rd Party Agent Commission'?
A big part of the service we offer at Reserve is marketing your property across a number of powerful channels. This helps to ensure your property gets found by guests, and allows us to consistently achieve the best possible rates for your property.
Some of these marketing channels charge a percentage commission on each booking, and in these situations we pass this charge on to you as a disbursement. Third party commission is an accounting term that means we are achieving and processing the booking on your behalf, and so we're able to pass the cost directly on to you (in the same way that we would pass on property management and cleaning costs).
As an example, Booking.com charge 15% commission. We pass this cost on as a disbursement. To cover our costs of processing the booking, maintaining your listing, assisting guests, etc. we then charge a reduced rate of commission (10% +VAT).
This can work out to be a little higher than the standard commission you are charged (as on overall percentage of the total booking value), but this is often offset by rates on third party channels being slightly higher than those on our own website.
