The Best Free Wi-Fi Hot Spots in Edinburgh

In a world where we like to be connected and stay in touch, it’s not often that we find ourselves without an internet connection. Wherever we go, we will have 4G, Wi-Fi, and often both. So for travellers to Edinburgh, who wish to either browse the internet on their laptop, catch up on some work or talk to friends but not use the data on their phones, there are a multitude of cafes in Edinburgh with free Wi-Fi.
Loudons Café and Bakery
A beautiful little artisan café, with dedicated Baristas. With their punchline being healthy, good quality hand baked produce, made to make you feel like you are at home, this cafe is a must visit. The cafe is open from 8am - 5pm and is set in beautifully crafted premises, close to Edinburgh's financial district. Loudons offer free Wi-Fi, so you can happily work all day and enjoy the menu that changes throughout the day.
The Storytelling Café
Situated in the heart of Edinburgh, just off the high street, the Storytelling Cafe is positioned within the Scottish Storytelling Centre. The Centre hosts a wide range of exhibitions and events throughout the year, so if you come to visit you can also take in one of these. But for those wishing to have peace and quiet then the Cafe also caters for such needs. The Storytelling Cafe is widely known for its unique charm coupled with homemade cakes and delicacies, as well as fantastic coffee.
The Forest Café throws the rule book out the window with items like Builder's tea and Fancy Fizz on the menu, all priced at an affordable £1 and £1.50. There is also a corkage option for wine, beer and a "can of juice", as the locals put it. So you can bring your own and the Forest Café will make you feel right at home. Interestingly, the Forest Café is a performance space with everything ranging from drama to dance and music, as well as being an art gallery and creative centre. What is most interesting though, is that the Forest Café is run by volunteers, very relaxed and easy going and is entirely vegan.
Black Medicine Coffee
Be prepared for witty humour, and a strong taste of wit if their tweets and website are anything to go by! This coffee shop is certainly popular, with many customers being known by name and their preferred "medicine". The interior of the Black Medicine Coffee Company has throwbacks to the origins of Coffee, with the majority of the interior being made of wood.
Traverse Bar Café
The Traverse Bar Café is joined to Scotland's new writing theatre. The area is a stylish café by day and a trendy upmarket bar by night. Well worth a visit if only for their super-fast Wi-Fi, swanky interior and the best Nachos in the whole of Edinburgh (controversial I know).
Well if the name doesn't tempt every coffee lover in, we don't know what will! Set off Brandon Terrace, near the King George V Park, Coffee Angel is the pride and joy of owners the Eroglu family. With a fantastic breakfast menu, with anything from bacon and sausage morning rolls, to Porridge and Croissants which then changes to an extensive lunch menu featuring paninis, salads and wraps. You could happily sit here from breakfast through until lunch and later. Their food is reasonably priced with the addition of free wifi.
