Which rugby teams play in the Autumn Internationals of 2025?
Just as northern hemisphere teams travel to the southern hemisphere each summer, the autumn sees southern teams welcomed to the top European rugby-playing countries.
USA (Eagles)
Scotland will welcome the USA Eagles to Murrayfield on 1 November 2025, in what will be the first time they play at Scottish Gas Murrayfield since 2000.
Historically, the two nations have met a handful of times, and Scotland have won most encounters.
New Zealand (All Blacks)
Next up is the mighty All Blacks on 8 November 2025, returning to Edinburgh after their 2022 visit, where they edged a tight match 31-23.
New Zealand remain one of the most storied teams in world rugby, and their visits to Murrayfield are always highly anticipated.
Argentina (Los Pumas)
On 16 November 2025, Scotland host Argentina, who last visited Murrayfield three years ago.
The Pumas made a strong run in recent seasons, reaching the semi-finals of the 2023 Rugby World Cup and climbing the world rankings.
Tonga
The series concludes on 23 November 2025 with Tonga as the final visitors.
Scotland last played Tonga at the 2023 Rugby World Cup (a 45-17 win in Nice) and the Pacific side last visited Murrayfield in 2021.
Autumn rugby internationals at Murrayfield
Taking place each October and November, Scotland's autumn internationals offer great entertainment for spectators.
Murrayfield is located an easy distance from the centre of Edinburgh, allowing fans to be quickly transported to the midst of the match day experience.
With entertainment before the match and world-class rugby during, Scotland's autumn internationals afford a great chance to make memories during your time in the city.
For those staying in Edinburgh a little longer, October offers plenty of Halloween fun from ghost tours to the Edinburgh Dungeon.
There are also lovely outdoor spaces to enjoy the city's changing autumn colours, including the Royal Botanic Garden.
Visitors to the city at the end of November can join in the St Andrew’s Day celebrations (hopefully after a Scotland victory!) and explore the stunning Edinburgh Christmas markets, which open at the end of the month.
The Autumn Internationals are a great alternative to the 6 Nations competition, which is played every February and March.
Scotland at the Rugby World Cup
The Rugby World Cup, which takes place every 4 years, will next be hosted by Australia from 1st October to 13th November 2027.
The 2027 tournament will be the first in which 24 international teams will compete for the coveted William Webb Ellis trophy.
The draw for the group stages will be made nearer the tournament and it will be exciting to see which teams Scotland will be facing!
Cheer the team on from home or join other supporters in Edinburgh to watch the matches together.
