Key features

This flat is very comfortable and situated on a central stretch of Edinburgh's famous 'Royal Mile'. This is a bright, 2nd floor flat with one bedroom containing two single beds and one double sofabed in the lounge area. There is a shared patio to the rear of the flat with views to the North of the City.

Pubs, clubs, pavement cafes and restaurants are all within one minute walk in this historic city. The Royal Mile is situated at the heart of Edinburgh's major sights such as Edinburgh Castle, Mary King's Close, St. Giles Cathedral, Holyrood Palace, The Witchery, Scottish Parliament Building and Scotland's major galleries and museums including the Whisky Heritage museum. It is also within easy walking distance from Edinburgh's principle shopping area, Princes Street.

Open topped tour buses are also within easy walking distance at Waverley train station. The former Royal Yacht Britannia is worth a visit at Leith's Ocean Terminal. Further afield, within a few hours travelling you can visit St.Andrews, home of golf and take tours of the highlands of Scotland including Loch Ness and the romantic Isle of Skye.

For local convenience stores, in addition to the newsagent at the top of St Mary's Street, there is another up the Royal Mile from the apartment and right at the lights (across the road). Access to the apartment is via an internal staircase.

A £200 refundable damage/security deposit is due 7 days before arrival, and refunded after departure.

All properties are strictly non-smoking, and do not accept hen/stag/party groups. At least one guest must be over 25 years old.

Please arrange your arrival with the property manager at least 24 hours before arrival.

Check in is from 4pm, and check out is before 11am.

Exterior Traditional Edinburgh tenement with no lift.

Parking notes Limited metered parking on street is available directly outside the apartment at £2 per hour, Monday to Saturday 8 am -6.30pm. However, payable private parking facilities are available at the NCP car park on Holyrood Road, 400m walk from apartment.

    Alles, wie beschrieben. Sauber, zweckmäßig, tolle Lage. Die Wasch- und Duschgelegenheiten sind originell. Insgesamt was für junge Leute. Wer Hotelstandard braucht, muß ins Hotel gehen.

    Service:

    We had a very comfortable stay with the essentials well catered for.

    Three very small points: 1. It was not really clear how we were to dispose of the rubbish although I think we mastered it in the end.
    2. At no stage could we locate or operate the cd player.
    3. Perhaps an update of the information file would be in order

    Mixed emotions.<br /><br />Pro:<br />* great location on the Royal Mile<br />* spacious<br />* equipment and furniture IKEA-style, the owner tries to make everything comfortable<br />* kitchen has instant coffee, tea, sugar and spices<br />* silent due to double windows (modern ones on the inside, old ones [under preservation order?] outside), but see below<br /><br />Con:<br />* skanky access through the close<br />* shower tub flooded by neighbour's washing machine sewage that is pressing in through 1870ies drain lines system (a sign says that the tub plug must be kept in place to stop sewage from getting in, but not only does it fail to stop the sewage, but also holds it back once it got in - the sediments in the tub prove this has been going on for a long time); absolutely disgusting, and the sewage also gets up into the toilet washing basin<br />* air in apartment was continuously stale: living room windows blocked from opening by the sofa and the water tap, respectively; window in bedroom blocked fro opening by heavy coffee table; window in toilet can be opened with a lot of force only<br />* loose wooden floor panels in several places
