Interior layout This unique mews conversion still retains many of its original features, including the old stable door and exposed timber beams. The marks where the saddles were stored can still be seen on some of the original pitch pine panelling.

Situated over two floors, there’s a large, bright fully equipped kitchen on the ground floor with a gas operated Aga. If requested in advance, we can also fill the fridge so you have everything you require for your first breakfast. On the same floor are the three bedrooms; the master is a double with an en-suite shower room, the second has 2 single beds or a super-king double, and the third room can be set up on request with two small single beds or a king-size double. The family bathroom is also on the ground floor. A spiral staircase leads upstairs to the original hay barn, which is now a bright and airy sitting room with beautiful original wooden beams.

Local area Between Haymarket station and Princes Street sits a secret village hidden behind the bustling Shandwick Place. Centred on pretty William Street, the shops of the West End Village were built in 1825 to allow the wealthy residents of nearby Coates Crescent and Melville Street to shop locally for their groceries. Today, the village streets are packed full of small independent shops, restaurants and bars. If you are looking for a cool neighbourhood to stay in Edinburgh, you've come to the right place.

The houses in Douglas Gardens Mews were built in 1889 and have all been tastefully renovated. The mews forms a quiet, private, cul-de-sac. It's a perfect location for city centre attractions, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, access to the Dean Village and Murrayfield Stadium, the home of Scottish rugby.
