Service:
Booking the apartment went very smoothly , and communication and reminders for payments at appropriate times was good, as was refund of the damage deposit. However, we were promised a parking voucher for one car in a city-centre multi-storey when we booked in January, but by the time of our booking (September) it seemed that this was no longer offered. We were told to save parking tickets and send them in for a refund, which we subsequently did. Unfortunately it took a bit of chasing by my husband for this to be honoured, but we did eventually get the money.
Product:
A big plus for this apartment is its location, which is ideal for Edinburgh city centre. Loads of restaurants, shopping and attractions within easy walking distance, and a good view of the castle from the front windows. I am sure when the apartment was first refurbished it was as spectacular as it looks on the internet photographs, but I think that was probably some time ago and the furnishings are now very, very tired. All the settees needed either a good clean, or replacing. The dining room chairs had collapsed and are no longer comfortable. The kitchen was very poorly equipped for self-catering: we struggled to find sufficient utensils/pans to prepare a meal but the oven and microwave do work - we resorted to ready meals from a supermarket. The dishwasher did work, but the door was falling off and we had to support it while we were filling/emptying. Many light bulbs were either on the blink or did not work at all. There was no sign of the advertised sound system and the TV was a very poor picture and sound quality. The entrance hall is quite off-putting as it is now quite scruffy and cluttered with bikes, old post stacked up and the stair carpet is filthy. It is, however, a very spacious apartment with 3 good bathrooms and large double bedrooms. With quite a bit of long overdue refurbishment, it could be back up to standard.
