Accidental beer set to take off as brewer plans to expand

I have to confess to being a big fan of Innis & Gunn. So much so that I took a whole case back home at Christmas to share my new found love!

So it's really great to see that plenty of other people like it too! The Scotsman is reporting huge expansion plans for the family-brewed beer.

Some interesting facts:

  • Accidentally made!
  • Unique taste comes from the whiskey it was designed to flavour
  • Originally being thrown away as a by-product!
  • The Caledonian Brewery weren't interested in producing it
  • 40,000 case sales in 2004 to 460,000 in 2009
  • Turnover of around £4.39 million.

I emailed Innis & Gunn a while back to find out where I could buy a (small - I'm keen to point out!) box, and they very helpfully pointed me in the direction of Woodwinters who have a brilliant selection of beers. A limited edition bottle makes for a great gift too - as my Dad will tell you!
